ARDBOX is a family of compact PLCs featuring 2 products, each with different I/O types (analog signals and relays). Each product can be connected via an I2C port in a Master-Slave system, thus increasing the number of I/O's that can be controlled. The ARDBOX range of products enable the most suitable compact equipment to be used based on the requirements of a particular installation. In addition, the variety of I/O enables the equipment to be tailored to the clients needs.
Industrial Shields are able to market this equipment at a low cost through the use and creation of Open Source products under the Creative Commons licence. They have the added advantage of being able to leverage the existing Arduino IDE programming interface and previously built programming libraries to provide a flexible programming environment for high performance projects in an industrial setting. The Arduino IDE is compatible with the ARDBOX range of products. A start code must be downloaded from www.industrialshields.com through the product page ‘document files’ section. It must then be opened using the Arduino IDE. All ARDBOX PLCs appear as an Arduino Leonardo and this option must be selected in the IDE.
